BTO embraces online advertising to help fund its work

BTO has taken the step to feature adverts on its website for the first time. “We decided to run adverts on our website homepage to help raise funds for our research work”, said Dr Andy Clements – BTO Director. “It’s important in this time of financial uncertainty that the Trust continues to diversify income streams. We are simply extending the advertising avenues that we currently use to now include the Internet”.

The adverts are displayed on the BTO homepage, and are carefully vetted to be from ethically sound companies, with a well designed format which doesn’t detract from the website’s content.

From now on, by simply visiting our website, you will see adverts, which in turn helps to support the BTO’s work and in particular to:

  • Provide funds for Bird Atlas 2007-11
  • Research in Africa on the declining numbers of UK summer migrants
  • Research in to the decline of the House Sparrow

Our advertising and creative solutions are purchased through our advertising partner Digital Spring. “We’re really proud to be working with the BTO”, said Rob Llewellyn - Director of Digital Spring.

"The BTO website is a treasure trove of bird facts and is visited each year by hundreds of thousands of keen and committed enthusiasts who care about what is happening to our bird life. They are highly educated, web savvy and environmentally-aware”, added Rob. “This makes the website an extremely valuable and untapped resource to help fund the BTO’s important research work”.

The adverts are displayed on the right-hand-side of the BTO homepage. Please email us if you have any views on our decision to carry advertising or if you’re interested in advertising with BTO.
