Welcome to Bird Atlas

Shags by Dawn Balmer

Tip of the week....
We're still in the middle of seabird activity so during any trip to the coast please look out for breeding seabirds - gulls, terns, Fulmars, auks etc. Many will be feeding young and it's easy to confirm breeding (FF for food for young or ON for occupied nest). Black-headed Gulls may have fledged young and these could have already moved a considerable distance from their breeding grounds so use the code FL (fledged young) with caution. More info on codes here.

How to take part...

There are two ways to take part in Atlas fieldwork:

Note: a tetrad requires two visits in the winter and two visits in the breeding season and is then complete - it should not be covered in all four years.
