Under Every Dot is a Team of Birdwatchers

This is the biggest ornithological challenge that we have ever taken on. The field work alone will last four years. The cost of coordinating and supporting up to 50,000 volunteer bird watchers, and recording and analysing the results will total £1,150,000.

Help us cover the map with dots

Each dot requires:

Birdwatchers to compile species lists and
carry out timed tetrad visits.

£380 in funding for each of the

How can you help?

If you would like to make a donation. Cheques, made payable to the
British Trust for Ornithology,
should be sent to:

BTO Bird Atlas Appeal
The Nunnery, Thetford,
Norfolk, IP24 2PU.

You can also phone 01842 750 050 and make a credit-card donation or give online.

To make a real commitment over a four year period

  • A contribution of £10 per quarter over the 4 year period will raise £160 for the Appeal (over £200 including Gift Aid).*
  • A contribution of £10 a month would make a huge contribution of £480 (more than £600 with Gift Aid).*
  • A gift of £250 per year from a high-rate taxpayer is worth £320 annually to the Trust with Gift Aid. By claiming further tax relief, the cost to the payee is less than £200 per year.*
