About Bird Recording

County Bird Recorders

Recording areas (usually counties) have a Bird Recorder who collates records often linked to the activities of local bird clubs. The kinds of records that are welcomed are discussed in What to Record. One of the aims of BirdTrack is to support the County Recorder network and records submitted to BirdTrack will be passed on to the appropriate bird recorder (provided you have given us permission to do so).

Sightings of rare birds should be submitted directly to your local bird recorder and will be passed to the British Birds Rarities Committee where appropriate: see Rare and Scarce Birds.
