Flatford Mill by Su Delve The familiar sight of Flatford Mill in Dedham Vale, Suffolk, made famous by Constable offers an inspiring location for our courses, with a very wide range of habitats and species within easy reach. The Nunnery by Ian Henderson The BTO Nunnery grounds and reserve provide an ideal location for learning bird song, and polishing your survey techniques.

Amateur Courses Rates

The BTO is a registered charity and runs all of these courses for the benefit of its members and volunteers to help them undertake BTO survey work with more confidence and skill. As such, we offer the courses to them at highly subsidised rates.

All 1-day workshops:  £45, to include teaching, materials and tea and coffee.

All 2 ½-day residential courses: £170, to include teaching, materials, refreshments and full board and lodgings from evening of Day 1 to lunch on Day 3. A non-resident price is also available for all residential courses, please ask for more details.

If you are under 41 years of age and not a professional ornithologist/ecologist, you may qualify for a further discount for residential courses, please ask for more details.
