Professional Bird Survey Methods Course 2010
Ever since we have been running Bird Survey Techniques and Bird Identification Courses we have welcomed professional ecologists and biologists who have wanted to attend. The amateur courses, however, are very much aimed at those doing BTO surveys and the contents skim over the basic methodologies and the reasons for choosing a particular methodology in any given situation – things that will be of particular interest to anyone having to initiate and conduct bird surveys. The amateur courses also do not cover the methods that are not currently being used by BTO surveys, many of which are used by professionals, such as Vantage Point Counts, for example. Finally, we are unable to offer certificates on amateur courses - although we are happy to provide a letter of attendance.
Despite these limitations our amateur courses have proved very popular amongst professionals and we have realised that there is a need for a dedicated and targeted courses addressing the needs of ecological professionals involved with bird surveying in all its guises. Therefore we are pleased to be able to offer in 2010 a course designed specifically for those undertaking survey work in a professional capacity. This course will be held in late summer, and will be based in Thetford, Norfolk. Please contact
01842 750050 for more details, or watch this space.
Details will be published as soon as available.
